Happy New Year, sisters! How exciting to be the first tidbit poster of 2014! I have thought long and hard about this adventure and was just a little confused by the instructions, scriptures etc... however here is what I have arrived at...I will post a thing or two I have learned from those who have traveled before me and I will post a thing or two that I have learned myself along the way that have greatly impacted my life. How's that? :)
Today I want to share something my momma has taught me and my sisters...words she has always shared and words she has lived by...they have stood me in good stead on my journey and even when I have, at times, forgotten them...they have proven to be true over and over again.
the words are these ...."the arm of flesh will fail you"
Such truth...such everlasting truth....and I, like most of you have learned them well from a young age....there is no man, no woman, no child, no pastor, no friend you can fully rely on...ever....they will disappoint...they will say the wrong thing, they will do the wrong thing ...they will make different choices from yours...they will hurt you...again and again.....such is the human condition...it is eternally broken and cannot hope to yield full loyalty, love, or support...it is impossible.....so why do we repeatedly hope and trust ..that this time will be different......we go along for extended periods of time and all seems well...it seems we are on a proper path with a person, a group, a church.....we find common ground...we find joy together...we pray for the spiritual among the temporal...and we forget...we forget that we are all human and that eventually...eventually...there will be failure....failure to communicate...failure to agree, failure to support....failure to love....Flesh/humans...will always fail. It is, unfortunately part of the effect of sin in this world.
I once had a minister who said..."look around this room....eventually, everyone of these people will leave you" He was right...
I know.... all this sounds fatalistic....and I suppose that in this world that is true.....But God......
Thank God for Jesus Christ!
My mother's great lesson to us as her children was not limited to reminding us over and over that man would always ultimately let us down and disappoint us....
No, her greater lesson to us was this....God, our Lord, our Father, our Savior....would NEVER let us down...He alone is faithful, He alone is true...He alone is a constant friend and companion...He always understands...He always provides...He Never leaves us or forsakes us....He Never Fails.
Consequently...when ever man has hurt me, let me down, forsaken or failed me...I have been reminded that He alone is Always there....the one who sticks closer than a brother...and He will never let me down.
So be encouraged, my sisters....even if you find yourselves lonely in this walk....or at odds with those you have in the past walked in agreement with...even distanced from long time family or friends....Remember in this new year, that He is in us and near us. Put your hope and trust in Him alone and He who is Perfect Love...can never Fail!
2 Tim. 2:13 ... "yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself."

that's a good word…..thank you!!
Wonderful post, even though you have not been feeling well, He still speaks His word through you and you yield.
I think that when we recognize and understand these wise words from you Momma, we are quicker to forgive because we better understand the human spirit.
Love you!
Hi Cheryl, you have encouraged us all with your timely post. A good word to carry with us through this New Year. Words from our parents spoken to our young tender hearts are not bound to be forgotten, but to take root. It has kept you safe from disappointment and bitterness. Indeed a word filled with hope! Thank you for taking time to write this post.
My precious sister, what wisdom lies in your words and in the teachings of your sweet Momma! How encouraging to know He never fails, He never leaves us alone, He never turns His back on us.......HE! What an amazing truth and what an amazing God we serve! Thank you so very much for sharing this word with us! Praying you are feeling better and ready to face the work week ahead! Many hugs...........
Wise words. I recall my youth pastor once saying to me, "Deb, don't ever put me on a pedestal, for I will fail you every time. Look only to Jesus." Of all the hundreds of words he spoke to me over all the years he was the youth pastor, I don't recall many of them - but those, I remember as if he just spoke them yesterday. Jesus...our immovable Rock.
A great message to start off the New Year. Your mother imparted great and lasting wisdom in her children. A gift of heritage with Godly measure. Love you my sister.
That was a timely message. "God is our rock with the inscription, "The Lord knows his children."
I often fail, and feel bad about it, yet I am not abandoned, because our Lord" abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself."
My very dear and only brother once said, " You shall expect more of yourself than you do of others." Those words have often met me, when I in my hot tempered way get angry and judgmental. My brother's sweet voice speaks, and help me get perspective. I am of course worse than those I judge.Other times my ego gets the better of me,- I don't feel happy then. But the Lord still walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am his own. Amazing grace.
hi jada gigi...well i have failed you, not even commenting, yet reading your most wonderful post here...i have been a little ill too but THAT shouldn't be my excuse for not even saying a short "hi", eh?
your momma has such great wisdom jada gigi...i have so many times in my life put people on a pedestal and more than many times they have fallen off that pedestal and i have been disappointed.!..we are all so human and not a one of us has not fallen.
i have not put you on a pedestal my dear sister and you have never been a disappointment to me and neither have in all my sisters i have never been disappointed... i know that we are all human and that we fall once in a while and that is why i love this verse,
Proverbs 24:16
"For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again."
how blessed we are that even though friends may fail and leave us, never will the lord forsake!
thank you jada gigi for such a nice new years greeting...love terry
