Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow!

there were a few tears shed when miss apron and miss scarf and bernie and i and the little red car bid our sweet farewells.
bernie put the camera on automatic timed shooting and it took this picture of us together for the last time.

as you know, i have always disliked good-byes and so bernie is the one that sent miss apron on her way, bernie and brave miss scarf, and the little red car, to the next sister...
and here is the song that i was thinking of...sigh...

Miss Apron's Last Day In The Rose City

this morning, the two sisters, miss apron and miss scarf were sitting in a cozy restaurant with bernie and me, reading the morning paper.

before this, i had been wearing miss apron, and miss scarf was wrapped around my neck.

and that bernie guy's nose was way out of joint!
after all, why couldn't at least one of the girls be hanging around him?...NOT fair!

here is the picture that i promised i would post the second day that miss apron arrived, but she and miss scarf kept us so busy, we just didn't have time to think!
here is what julie sent to me.... a pretty picture of peterborough, and a nice letter.
julie also included in the package, a card for rebecca...as she says, "you will notice the card says "rebecca"...that is because i tried to send her the apron but no luck".
anyway, i will just tuck that envelope into the package that i mail to the next sister and it can just do a little more travelling with miss apron and the letter from mrs. mac.

now i will tell you why i am a day late sending miss apron along her way.
this week one of the couple in our fellowship lost their dear father. he was 91 years old and he made no profession of faith. he, along with another man and dad golden have been prayed for faithfully every day and at the prayer meeting every week by the christians and so it is quite a blow.
he did live for almost two weeks after he was found fallen in his home and taken to the hospital,
so we will never know until we reach heaven whether he heeded to the call of the lord or no.
i had miss apron in my purse and miss scarf around my neck at the funeral
joe, the man's son, when he did the eulogy for his dad, read the verse,
Ecclesiastes 7:2
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
joe and his aged mother are the only ones who profess to be saved in the family.
he has four brothers and sisters.
joe ended with the verse john 3:16
"for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life."
how much more better can it be than THAT?
god bless you all dear sisters and tomorrow, for sure, i will be sending that miss apron on her way!...............love terry

The Two Sisters And Coffee Breaks And A Winking Doggie

for the last morning of miss arpon's visit, bernie and i and miss apron and miss scarf went for a coffee break at zehrs with gramma and grampa yade. we were pleasantly surprised to see that norm and susan[grampa and gramma's daughter and son in law] were there. susan and norm stood up for bernie and me almost 38 years ago on our wedding day. as you can see, i am wearing miss apron!

grampa yade presented bernie with a letter that was written on a piece of birch bark.
he wrote a congratulaions retirement note in the letter.
miss scarf wanted a piece of the action and so she flung herself around our shoulders.
miss apron is peeking out at the whole event.

after leaving from zehrs, we were taken by the little red car to betty's house where we were met by furry fluff, betty's little doggie. he took such a liking to miss apron, that right there and then, we decided that he must be pictured with her.

betty's husband, john made no complaints when i wrapped him in miss apron and threw miss scarf around our necks.

matthew. betty's and john's boy brought up the black cat and here is a nice picture of the four of them!...matthew, miss apron, miss scarf and the cat!

betty was showing miss apron some fancy computing when i snapped this picture.

here is that bernie guy acting like a real retired granny and miss apron, too is taking a break!

after the photo shoot, miss scarf decided it was time that she and her sister have a game of scrabble....here you can see where her mnd is when she made this word...SISTERHOOD! i do believe it is worth more points than the word that miss apron formed......

ha!!! MRS. MAC,,,,,here we don't have a winner...poor miss apron!..i am glad to say that she was not a bad loser though!

she even took pity on poor bernie when, after we left betty's, we went to a doctor's office AGAIN!!.look how sweetly she and her sister are hugging bernie!

i could not resist this winking dog...he is telling everyone good night and he is saying, "eat your hearts out...i am in command of this pair!"

well, we will see how it goes tomorrow when we hear from mrs. mac.....love terry

Blood Clinics And Restaurants

yesterday the little red car took mom to the doctor for her blood tests..the sisters, miss apron and miss scarf accompanied her, as well as bernie and myself.
in this picture with mom golden is our apron
.

and this is the restaurant where miss apron wanted to treat the whole group, and for a reason;
this is the blue star restaurant where mom golden worked 56 years ago!
dad golden was out of work at that time and with six hungry mouths to feed, mom golden was obliged to get a job.

here is what mom golden looked like when she worked at the blue star.

while we were there, i must tell you what happened.
this is a story that must be heard and miss apron and miss scarf were all ears as i told this to mom golden.
"do you see the kitty in bernie's wallet mom?"
"yes."
"well this kitty came to bernie all the way from india, and mom, it came at just the right time..amrita, our good friend sent it and it came later than what she was hoping..it came very soon after bernie's kitty died. this picture is such a comfort to bernie."

amrita, when bernie got that picture, he put it right into his wallet and every time he opens that wallet, there is that kitty from india smiling at him and his heart is glad!
how blessed we sisters are to have such a wonderful sisterhood family.
we are all different but we all are the same!...love and sympathy and prayers and god bind us all together!

bernie let me hold the card for this closer view of that lovely cat.

now today miss apron had just a wee bit of complaining to do,."what is it with you canadians? how come you go to the blood clinics all the time...three times this week i have had to go with you!"
ha!..here bernie stands in front of the blood clinic where he had just had some blood sucked out of him! now miss scarf was all sympathy as she clung around bernie's neck!

meanwhile back at the parking lot, there was the poor little red car waiting for us and freezing in the snow that the idaho snow queen had dumped on us....NOT nice!

i guess if i hear from that said snow queen, i will be sending miss arpon along toute de suite to the next fortunate sister this friday morning......love terry

Our Trip To Hamilton

yesterday at eight in the morning, we all headed to hamilton.
bernie, myself and miss apron and the sisterhood scarf...i took this picture of bernie and the two sisters just before we all piled into the little red car, who i must say looked quite fine and squeaky clean after the all night shower she had[thanks to mrs. mac].

the morning was quite damp and foggy but we drove the highways until we reached the mcmaster hospital.
miss apron sat on my lap and comforted me as we waited for the doctor.
i had already done my strength tests and was waiting for his report.

bernie and miss scarf were waiting on the opposite side of the room and the four of us chatted and discussed as to whether we would stop on the way home for some lunch!
well, here i have heard from the doctor...not much news except that he had to have a few tubes of blood sucked out of me for testing...i will have to wait for the results, but all in all i am feeling pretty fine!

we decided that we would not stop on the return trip, but instead just drive straight home. miss scarf and miss apron were having a serious talk as they lay on the dash board. they spoke in hushed tones and so bernie and i did not know of miss scarf's plan to go and see arlene's verse until we were home..i am glad that we agreed and took that trip!!!

tomorrow you will see where that generous miss apron took mom golden for breakfast..

have a great night all of you sisters....god bless you all...

i have only a little more time to put that miss apron to work!..for sure and she is obliged to cook us at least one more meal! AT LEAST!!......love terry

Our Precious Sister, Arlene

i wanted to tell you about the apron's hamilton adventure of today but when bernie and i and the little red car and miss scarf and miss apron arrived home, the sisterhood scarf told us, "it would only be the proper thing if we took my little sister, miss apron, to see arlene's verse.
after all, a year ago about this time, we had gone! "

to tell you the truth sisters, i really thought she was right and so the little red car who was sparkling clean and whose motor was still warm took us all over to the gospel hall.

on february 20, it will be two years since our dearest arlene entered heaven.
her leaving left such a huge space in our world...even though we know where she is!
i am copying one of her posts here from her blog and this really shows all of us just what her purpose was in life...the lord jesus and everything that was involved with being his child!

It's Time!

Arlene said,

"It's time to thank the Lord for all He has done and is doing for me.
It's time to thank you for praying for our family throughout this crisis time.
It's time for us to know that God is really doing something so very special in our lives and get excited about it.
It's time to connect with old friends.
It's time for us to go gather the Harvest of Souls that are out there waiting for us.
It's time for us to minister the healing of Jesus Christ to people that are suffering.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; surely he bore our sorrows and joys and by his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5. "

Proverbs 10:7 "The memory of the just is blessed."

there is so much more gold to be found on arlene's blog.
her daughter left the blog there and it is a good place to visit ...http://lovinggodandlife.blogspot.com/

god bless you all dear sisters....love terry

Miss Apron Goes To Sunday School

this morning the little red car was still not cleaned..the rain we were expecting from mrs. mac didn't materialize!....but the little red car did permit me to take these pictures as i was on my way to pick up my sunday school kids. fortunately, we had a red light and so i could snap this picture of our apron.

miss apron felt right at home with my big black purse and my bible and hymn book.
this picture of daisy was taken after the little red car dropped me and my four kids off at the door.
daisy's little cousin was quite willing to have her photo taken too....two pretty little spanish girls indeed!

alas though, these were the last pictures that i was able to take...when we returned to dad and mom golden's place for dinner, i discoverd that i had left my camera at sunday school. woe is me!!

well.....good old bernie to the rescue..he had his phone camera with him!..after i had wrapped dad golden in the apron, he was willing for me to take this picture..dad golden had taken it a bit easy today....instead of cooking a roast of beef and veggies and mashed potatoes, he had decided to buy store made little shepherd's pie and baked potatoes....doesn't he just look so adorable in the apron?
mom golden wanted to wear it too and here she is with her nagging daughter!
after dinner, that bernie was stuck in the kitchen wet to his elbows, washing the dishes...his weekly job on a sunday at dad and mom goldens'.
and here jordan and i do our weekly job of filling out grampa golden's pill dispenser...i always keep a careful eye on the little guy as he counts out the pills ..1 2 3 4 5 6 7.....enough for seven days.

here is my beautiful sister, gracie with her cute grand son, jordan...

and here sits little jordan covered with our apron, looking as pretty as a little girl!..ha!
well the rain came this evening and right after gospel meeting , the little red car allowed us to finaaly take a picture....alas though miss apron and her sister miss sisterhood multi-coloured scarf had been left at home...can't take the chance that they catch a cold..after all they have to both accompany bernie and me the little red car tomorrow to mcmaster hospital in hamilton for my visit to the specialist..to see how my old body is doing!....i will be taking pictures there of the two of them......love terry

ps ..mrs. mac, the little red car thanks you so much for the showers that you have sent and requests that you send no more snow, eh?

Miss Apron Serves A Light Lunch

before supper, i told bernie ahead of time that he had better cool it on eating so much pie.
"for dessert", i told him, "you will only be allowed a healthy granola bar"!
that is why he is not only wearing the pretty sisterhood apron but he is also wearing a sad face!
here is where i started to make him his supper.
i put some left over ham into the grinder,
and ground it to smithereens!
here are the ingredients that i added to the ground ham.
this is a mixture of miracle whip, mustard, green relish and pepper.
it would of been nice to add some green onions but i didn't have any..
instead of making sandwiches, i just spread the ham on slices of bread.
bernie made me sit for this pictures but trust me, i didn't eat all of this!
bernie put most of them away!!!
i really don't even know how he packed the piece of lemon meringue pie that he had succeeded on sneaking when my back was turned...NOT a good boy!

Miss Apron Helps Me Make A Chicken Pot Pie

well miss apron and me were slaving in the kitchen when bernie came in to take a candid picture of us.

we had no time to kick him out and so he snapped one more and left, as i was chopping up the chicken for the casserole.

this is the baked finished product. it had taken miss apron and me from start to finish 45 minutes to make! i am going to put the recipe over at the "cooking with the scarf sisters" http://cooking-previews.blogspot.com/

bernie was quite anxious to sink his teeth into this delicious meal.

he demanded to be served right away!

he took our beloved apron with him and i hope that he does not mess her up!..if he does though, it will be all right because he is the one who does the laundry!

it would be going too far if i let him keep the apron on when he ate this huge piece of lemon meringue pie[compliments of the grocery store]...way too sticky!

well it is high time that i had a little rest myself...the dish washer will do the dishes!....good night dear sisters and the apron and i and bernie will treat the little red car to a picture or two tomorrow!....love terry
