Happy Thanksgiving All!

As you can see, its pretty warm in GA today and our scarf was barely needed but of course had to come along on our adventures anyhow. Aren't you all fiercely jealous! :)

Here's our Thanksgiving table ..and here's the menu:

Here's our Thanksgiving Feast and we're about to dig in. We had lots of delish food and only 4 of us to eat it all! J is with her dad's family, Bek and Jeff are in Jax with my sis, and here we sit, just us...but boy was it all yummy! Just a good excuse to make some high calorie favorites. :)

Our after dinner stroll, to walk off all those calories...:)..and now, a nap!

Here's mine...just about to go into the oven. Happy Thanksgiving all you Scarf Sisters!

The scarf has been resting up for a few days, getting ready for this busy weekend. We certainly have lots to do today...as I'm sure you do as well. One of the things I love the most about Thanksgiving, everyone...in my town, my entire state...the whole USofA are doing approximately the very same thing. We are all thanking God for our blessings and eating good food with family and friends, watching the Macy's parade
and maybe some football, playing a game of touch in the back yard or taking an after dinner stroll. These unifying traditions alone make the day very special to me. So walk with me through today...I'll bet we are all doing similar things...and if you aren't American, then take a peek inside what a typical Thanksgiving Day looks like for many of us here.

Here I am perusing the weekly flyers and circulars...preparing for that all important Black Friday shopping trip. This year more than usual, I am mapping my way and making my plans.

Whooo Hooo - its here!

Its mine, all mine...for the next 10 days anyway. :) The scarf arrived at my house yesterday afternoon. I can't wait to see what adventures we'll have. I'll keep you posted!

Hey Sistas in the Hood!

I will be leaving this afternoon and heading home to St Louis for the Thanksgiving holiday. I will be out of pocket (this actually means, no computer!) Until December 1st. I know I will have LOTS to catch up on and I am eager to see where "our" scarf is! To all of my new friends, have a blessed Holiday and even in the midst of the economy or personal turmoils, we have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful that God has brought new friends into my bloggy world! God's Blessing to all of you!

SHE'S HOME

Our grand-daughter was released from the hospital today! Thanks to all of the sisters in the hood for your prayers!

Since some of you commented on their cute nick-names, it started as a way of keeping their identities safe. 8 year old Gabriella, is "Gum Drop". Jessica's other daughter is 6 year old Jacey Beth, she is "Jelly Bean".

Our daughter Jennifer has 2 little girls. 4 year old Alyson whom we call Aly or Aly-Cat is "Kit-Kat". 2 year old Ashley is "Sweet Tart". Jennifer is pregnant and due in June so I will have to start thinking of another sweet name for this sweet grandchild. it's too soon to know if it's a boy or a girl.

Any suggestions?

GUMDROP UPDATE

First off thanks to all of my scarf sistas for remembering to pray for our Gabriella. The results of the MRI came back and the infection is not what they feared (surgery to drain it off). Her fever is gone today but she will be staying another night in the hospital becasue her white cell count is not right. They are going to try a different antibiotic on her. As her GIGI, I appreciate all of your love and concern for our grand-daughter. When our daughter Jessica married her husband Steven, Gabby became our bonus grandchild, truly our granddaughter in our hearts!

PRAYER PLEASE

Please pray for our 8 year old grand-daughter, Gabriella (AKA "Gumdrop"). She awoke this morning running 102 degree fever and in intense pain in her hip. She has been fighting a Urinary Tract Infection for a couple of weeks. She was taken to the ER where they admitted her and are doing an MRI to see if the infection has settled into her hip. She's scared and she's in pain. She will be getting hooked up to IV treatments to see if they can begin flushing the infection out of her system.

Faith, Family and Friends

In my life 3 things are constant.
1.) Faith in my Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.
2.) The unselfish love of my Family.
3.) The blessing of Friendships both old and new.
This new friendship..."The Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarf" is such a privilege. Why? Because I get to come inside your homes, personally meet your families and be a part of your lives. We share stories of sadness, joy and redemption. Or maybe it's just something silly or hilarious...that lifts my spirits and makes this ol' gal's heart sing!
So, my final journey is to me the most significant...I went to visit our friend Arlene. Last year, every week on Wednesdays our Blogs "STOMPED" the devil on her behalf. Yes, "By His Stripes" we are healed and that healing for her came when she went Home to Glory to be with Jesus. How many times I've sat across from her and shared a cup of coffee and a nice chat are too numerous to count. And I miss them. Today, I once again sat with our friend, coffee in hand and enjoyed a nice chat. She would have happily been a part of our Sisterhood! So, on this our final journey together the scarf and I made sure that she was. I miss you Dear Friend...give my Daddy a hug.

Keep an eye out for our scarf she might just be on her way to visit you!

Prayer Requests

Sisters,
Please remember Deb in your prayers today. She is having tests and they [and the possible range of results] are very frightening, to say the least.

Please pray for my family too. My husband [Steve] lost his job on Saturday, a victim of the tightening economy. [owner where he worked replaced him with her child who will work for free] No ill feelings though, it was purely a business decision and we still think the world of the owner.

Also, Steve has been having some symptoms for a while now that are leading his physicians to test him for congestive heart failure. He has been on blood pressure meds for 20+ years now and that may have had some effects on the heart muscle itself.

I'm thankful that I can share this with all of you, because I know you'll be praying and I know our God reigns.

Just checking in...nothing new and exciting going on! It rained for 2 days straight, so I haven't ventured out much. Hopefully... tomorrow will be nice enough weather for me to get out and not have to walk in the muck and mire! Ooh!!! It is really cold here today. When we came out of Church this afternoon it was snowing such HUGE snowflakes, that it looked like a white out...beautiful!!! So, stay tuned for our next trip because no matter what, we have to reach our final destination...neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow can stop us! Then the Traveling Scarf will make her way to the next Sister, who will be anxiously waiting to find this special gift in her mailbox!!!

Yesterday and Today

The Scarf and I haven't done much traveling these past couple of days. Yesterday, we did venture out to the Mart for groceries and a few beauty potions. Moisturizer, lip balm and a file for giving myself a pedicure were things I purchased for myself. How exciting eh? Today, has been a day at home caring for Grandboys Elek and Xavier, routine things like picking up, feeding, changing...picking up, feeding, changing...picking up, feeding, changing and on and on it goes. Tomer left for Bronson tonight. Yes, he's off Deer Hunting again. Question...Why is it that women tend to take on so much that at times we feel just a bit overwhelmed? Well, Xavier is spending the night and I need for him to go to sleep...he is beyond tired and I am growing weary after a long day. Think I'll snuggle down with a cup of Chai tea and get this boy to sleep...Pray that he goes to sleep??? I Have a special trip planned soon. So stay tuned for "Trish and the Scarf's Big Adventure."

Hello Sisters!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this blogging thing. Deb and I have known each other for 30 years, literally. We met in college in the fall of 1978. We have been through thick and thin over the years, but we remain best friends. Thank you for the intro, Deb.

It is true that my son thinks he's going to marry Olivia. In fact, not long ago, we were driving past a Babies R Us store, David said "when I get married with Olivia, we're going to go in ther and get us a baby!". Hubby [Steve] and I have been married 22 years. It took 15 years to have a baby. So, David is our whole world. He's in 2nd Grade, and brought home straight A's for the first grading period. He's in his 4th year of piano lessons, and is a camoflage belt in TaeKwonDo.

The Lord has been beyond good to us. As Deb mentioned, I retired from the Army in 2002 after 20 years. [David was born in 2001] In 2004, I had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which I survived by the grace of God. I work in Civil Service now, and that is going well.I look forward to 'meeting' you all and getting to know you better. I'm already planning where to take pics when I get the scarf!

I WILL start a blog soon. [those are my orders at least!] I'll post a link when I get one.Ciao for now, Char

Hello --just me...Deb

....wanting to say that I've given my friend Char strict instructions to start blogging and stop lurking! She has joined the ranks of the traveling scarf...and reads all the posts and I'm sure most of your blogs...and knows all of us...but we don't know her! (Well, I know her --but y'all don't)

So...since she's not blogging (YET)....I'm going to introduce you to her.
She is one of my oldest, dearest friends. We were college roommates long ago and survived a lot together. Laughed together, Cried Together, Slipped in the snow together (no, actually, she PUSHED me in the snow. A LOT!) But mostly, we laughed together.

She is happily married to Steve, her husband of...?...I forget how many years. They have a wonderful son, David Michael (his photo is below) - who insists that he is one day going to marry Olivia. They live in Fayetteville, North Carolina - where she works as a civilian on the military base there, HOWEVER, she is a proud veteran of the US Army where she served 20 years in the Medical Corp and retired with the rank of Major. She has been stationed all over the world - in fact, I was privileged to visit her when she was stationed in Italy...way back in...was it 1985? 1986?

We share a birthday. How cool is that?! But she will always and forever be two years older than I. I'm 48. That makes her half a century...but who's counting?

She is a cancer survivor because of Jesus...whom she loves with all her heart! And she never fails to give Him the glory for that miraculous healing in her life.

So....that's a little bit about Char....now I leave it up to her to fill in more of the story.

More of our travels

The scarf and I ventured out on this cold, feels like Winter night. Brrr! Tuesday nights I always meet my best pal Peg at Tim Hortons for...1 large coffee, butter caramel flavor and 2 creams. Please? I must confess I couldn't resist their Pumpkin Spice Muffin...So Yummy! Upon my return Tomer asked if "we had solved the problems of the world?" No. But honestly we talk about everything under the sun and believe me we don't always agree. Our opinions are sometimes completely opposite but I think that's what makes a strong relationship. We are so secure in our friendship that we can just tell it like it is. Hey! I don't always see eye to eye with my Tomer but it doesn't change anything in our relationship. We love and respect one another, that and Jesus is what makes our Marriage so strong. It's amazing to me how this scarf has given me a new family of Sisters to share with. And even though I haven't met most of you ...I love you. Your comments, support and prayers have added so much to my life. I will miss this ol' scarf but will be excited to see where she will travel next. Thank you Sisters for this experience.

What fun we are having

In this house Sunday mornings means going to Church! So the Traveling Scarf found herself participating in our Sunday School Class. Tomer and I teach the Primary Class. (6 and 7 yr. olds) She enjoyed playing a game of "stick the lips on the Camel" and the children loved having her wrapped around their faces so that they could not peek! Next, it was off to Worship Service where we sang songs of Praise and prayed for the sick and Wow! at least 20 people dedicated their lives to Jesus. I held onto that scarf so warmly wrapped around my neck and prayed for it's travels and those of us who wear it. Yes, Sisters it is now the "The Annointed Traveling Scarf!" After Church we enjoyed lunch with the family at Angelina's our favorite Mexican Restaurant. Stopped on the way home to gas up the car...cheapest prices we've seen in many moons. We paid the mere sum of $1.94 per gallon! Wow! At least there's one good thing coming from this stock market mess!!! Got home, changed into flannel PJ's, snuggled under my lap quilt and took myself a nap. OOH! it was a cold, drizzly afternoon. We went back to Church for the evening service since our Grandbaby Emilee was singing with the Rock Solid Kids and we surely couldn't miss that. Ladies our Scarf had a very busy day!!! So Today we are spending a quiet day at home with Elek... being a Grammy and doing some household chores. Monday's are always for cleaning and doing laundry. Oh! What fun that Scarf and I are having!!!

IT'S ME AGAIN MARGARET....I GOT THE SCARF!!!

While quietly sitting at the computer my Tomer walked in and handed me a package. As soon as I saw it I knew it was our Scarf! I screamed "Oh my gosh! I got the Scarf!!!!!" To say I was excited was an understatement. And that Tomer had the nerve and audacity to ask me "what's the big deal?" What??? I explain...he still doesn't get it! Men...what do they know? Hmmph! I am so Happy!!! And my first outing is tonight. Yes, I will be wearing our lovely Scarf to "Baxter's" to hear Sara's..."Mr, the guys and the girl singer!" Pat's bringing her camera so I will post a picture of the Scarfs first big adventure with this ol' Grammy real soon!
Oh! And Miss Margie the package was BEAUTIFUL all covered with colorful hearts that were almost as big as yours!

Good thing I was first so I can't be denied the scarf...

I was supposed to get the scarf out yesterday! Ugh! First of all, where did the day go? 2nd, I had the scarf, the address, and forgot the papers that go inside!!!

So I made it to the post office tonight, Thank You Jesus for extended hours!

So it's off to see you or was it you... you'll be getting it soon... open the package carefully and maybe you can reuse it, I bought special packaging... because... I'm a nerd!!

Saying Goodbye

I can't even tell you how happy that silly scarf has made me! Its been a constant reminder of all things good!! It's reminded that in God, things are amazing, because He is faithful. I remember when I first started blogging as a journal because I always sucked at journaling but knew that this path that I was (and still am) on is a giant testimony of how God is working in my life. It started with one friend, then her mom... and so on, and now I have this sisterhood of girlfriends that most of which I've never met but love so much!

Today that scarf was a gentle reminder to take off a post that was negative and post something worth sharing!

I've been inspired so much from canning to loving. I've seen what it's like when grammy's take care of their grandbabies, canning&freezing, mom & daughters, husbands& wives, families of love, we've prayed for those we've lost but we'll meet again someday. I hope that in some way, I've been an inspiration to someone too.

I get one more full day with the scarf (I'll be unveiling my new hair as my finale), and then it will be "your" turn, but I can't tell you who "you" are yet. Because that's half the fun! If you want a hint... here it is... but don't tell Mrs. Mac I told you... oh... I don't want to ruin the surprise... watch your mail :).
