Haven Of Rest
I was reminded of this old comforting hymn when I read Felisol 's latest post.
As a teenager I used to listen to the Haven of Rest radio program on missionary radio each week. It was so dear to my heart. I am so glad I found the quartet on You Tube. I remember the music so well. Be blessed.

Together in Michigan
On October 18, 2008 Mrs. Mac posted what was to become an extension of our families...the first official Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarf post. We would each take a turn with a simple scarf which we would write about and then send on to another sister. Can you believe we are approaching our third anniversary?
We now cross international borders and have a following of folks who visit our "home", the Sisterhood blog, inspiration, prayer and a glimpse into the simple lives of women who simply love God and have become sisters of the heart. We have shared much, our first common loss...our sweet Arlene who has now gone on to be with Jesus. We've shared graduations, births, family celebrations and tears together. Our biological families all know exactly who we are talking about when we mention the Scarf Sisters.
Last year some of the sisters were blessed to spend time in one another's presence when we gathered at the home of Mrs. Mac for a few days of fellowship and the chance to finally hug and talk face to face. Those unable to attend were left waiting for the next chance we might have for another sister's reunion.
I am excited to invite you to just that next sister's reunion this Autumn in Michigan (I will also be sending an Evite to your mailbox). Our home base will be my cottage in Lewiston. Because the cottage itself is small, I will provide information for local hotel accommodations. I'll be sharing a working itinerary of possible activities for those so inclined and for those homebodies (which many of us seem to be!), the cottage will be the hub for simple meals, laughter and evening campfires.
Please let me know if you are interested in joining us as we celebrate the blessing of the Scarf Sisters under the mantle of Michigan's Autumn colors in the northern lower peninsula. For a little taste of Michigan, you can click on this link:

Whether you will be able to join us or will simply attend in spirit, may you always know that you have sisters who love you and who count it our privilege to be a part of your family.
Oh sisters! Devon is starting football workouts today! Am I ready? Probably not! He may be 153 lbs, and just about 5-10 but he's still my baby! Let us ask the grocery bill to be kind-a teenage boy working out daily for football; as well as Collin turning 12! WOW. Need some tips for feeding multiple teenage boys!
Have a great day!!

Happy Fathers Day Dad Golden
Miss Terry is such a lovely sister .. always bringing cheer to our dear little merry band .. and I'm certain she inherited her thoughtfulness from her earthly father, also known to our group as Dad Golden. I know for a fact that many a Scarf Sister has this dear man on their permanent prayer list :) If the group could select a (human) father mascot, Dad Golden would be chosen .. hands down. So, even though this greeting is a few hours late, we just want to wish him a blessed day. The Scarf Sisters love you 'Dad' ..

For Diane

The Rose Beyond The Wall
The Rose Beyond The Wall - A. L. Frink
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light,
Watered and fed by the morning dew,
Shedding it's sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength
With never a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice's length
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before,
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing it's fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive--
The rose still grows beyond the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever-more.

Prayer Request & The Bible
The bible is on it's way Saturday. I am sorry for the delay. I put it in my car as a reminder to get it out... and the pkg slipped under my seat and I'm an airhead... so I didn't find it until I sent Phyllis off to Prom when I cleaned out the car! Ugh! SORRY!!!Also, while I realize that this prayer request is nothing completely serious, but I still need prayer. Phyllis entered a contest to make her own prom dress and the prize is $50,000! And we surely could use God's provision to pay for college with that scholarship money!

Again...thank you all, words can't express what your prayers mean to us.

Urgent Prayer Request
Dear Sisters,
Please pray for my grandson Mac. He works as a mental health aid in a psychiatric hospital. He was badly attacked today by one of the patients and suffered multiple blows to the head, knee and hand injury. Mac is a big, healthy 21 year old, 6'2" and in excellent shape, so this must have been a very intense attack.
He is currently in the hospital ER awaiting a CT scan. Sara, Dean and the rest of us in the family covet your prayers.
Thank you so much.

Urgent Prayer Request
Hello all my dear sisters....this request was made by my home church body today and I was so saddened by the news. I think that this family can use all the prayers it can get. Please read below and pray for God's loving arms to surround this hurting family. Thanks so much...
Dear Prayer Force Team,
Bishop Bill Jones and his wife Karen Jones of the Georgia Conference have an immediate prayer
Request. They had a tragedy happen to Karen’s cousins family. Please see the email below from
Karen…
Dear Friends and Family,
Some of you are aware of what happened on Memorial Day, but I will give a quick update for the rest of you. I have a first cousin, Darren Tomlin, who lives in Southaven, Mississippi. His wife and two of his five children were killed in a terrible accident on Monday. The eldest son, Darren's stepson, had just graduated high school, and this trip was part of his graduation present. His mom had taken all the children to a beach in Florida for a few days, and they were returning home.
Christopher, the stepson, was driving the car when a back tire blew out. The car went into a spin and hit a bridge support. Christopher was killed; his mom was killed; the youngest child - adopted from China - was killed, and one of their two foreign exchange students was killed. Darren has three surviving children, Michaela - 16, Carly - 11, and Jake - 10. Jake has been released from the hospital, but both Michaela and Carly are still hospitalized with vertebrae injuries.
Darren will bury his wife and two children on Saturday! The grief is unimaginable. My aunt and uncle, Darren's parents, are now in Mississippi and plan to stay with Darren for several weeks. The children all attended a Christian school, and they are believers. I am appealing to all of you to pray for them during this very difficult time. My aunt and uncle are devastated as well; they loved their daughter-in-law and those grandchildren very much. They are strong believers, and they need all of our prayers.
I found an article and some video online. It will show you some pictures of those who died and give you more details of the accident. I know I have some wonderful prayer warriors who prayed for my family during our time of loss. This loss is magnified many times over! Please have your churches pray for the family of Darren Tomlin. The surviving children are also dealing with the loss of a mother, a brother, and a sister. They are also seeing their dad struggle as they never have before. They are all going to need God's supernatural grace and peace to survive this.
I love you all, and I value your prayers for my extended family. Karen
