Thinking and Praying

Just a few words to tell that you are in ,y prayers these days.
I'm in particular praying for Connie's mother and Diane's father who are about to end their travel here on earth.
I know from experience just how hard and long these last days can be.
My dad who, was a former athlete, had a heart which was so strong and just would not stop ticking even though the rest of him was gone.
I then found comfort in the words of Paul, 2 Tim. 4 :

6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Verse 7 is on my Dad's headstone.

I pray for strength to those who are sitting by their parent's side. May this be a time when they in particular feel the closeness and strength of Our Lord.

I also pray for Saja and Leo, for Bernie and Dave.

I send you my favorite promises from Isaiah 40:

26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Scarf Sister moving against the stream

Our Scarf Sister Connie N., Laughter, Love and the Zen of Midlife has made me feel both humble and proud at the same time. While others are fleeing from japan like rats from a sinking ship, sister Connie was moving from Saipan to Japan yesterday. I often feel reluctant when I read words like hero, patriot and even trooper. Connie is this and more. I've copied her blog from last Sunday to share with you. Please, Keep Connie and her family in your prayers.

My last Sunday in Saipan

Firstly- huge hugs to all who are praying for the people of Japan- the land that I have come to love and embrace as my own homeland. My heart is so deeply broken...as we all watch the unfolding of the moments and hours as they pass....rescues...search and recovery....I can't even fathom where they will start to put their lives back together.

When I look at that tangled mess that was home to thousands of people I feel helpless....my instinct is to figure out a way to go up there and help as soon as I land in Japan. Do not be surprised if I post that I have joined some organization as a volunteer....the years I spent in the Red Cross are still in my blood.

I have been given an extraordinary amount of compassion and it is surging...ready to spill over...I need to find some way to put it into action. I am sure there will be something I can do - even from our hometown in Itoda.

I'm here at the laundromat with my daughter-helping her and spending time with her.

We moved our boxes today and what little we are taking to Japan. All we have left at our friends home are our clothes-we'll move those on Saturday morning. I'm coming up on my last week here in Saipan....what a strange feeling.

Thirty years winding down to an end. Where did the time go??

What is in store for us in Japan?

Soon....we shall see....

OK...there is a huge mountain of clothing that needs attention. Thank God my online friends are safe....we will continue to pray for the families of those that were lost and are still missing.....the residents on one entire town possibly washed away....

ok....laundry to fold....

till later on this week.....

Troubles

Hello, dear Scarf Sisters.
I managed to wreck my computer as I came home from the most wonderful trip to England late yesterday.
I shall probably have to take a month sabbatical while the machine is hopefully being restored to its old self.
Any prayer for a repair angel is highly appreciated.
I have no one but myself to blame for the crash, and maybe I just deserve a slap over the fingers for being both arrogant and sloppy (and ungodly as well, the words I used were not nice at all.)
Anyway, this is how my status is just now. Tomorrow I'm heading for a beach walk with the hiker ladies. bringing all m warmest winter equipped, a thermos of hot coffee and sandwiches. Life has its bright sides, even with icy roads and a cat who is so big, she will soon be bursting. if the kittens aren't coming soon.
God bless you all, dear sisters. I will try reading, even if I do not comment.
And I'll never stop praying.
Yours felisol

Anniversary Wishes ... Scarf Sister Style

Best wishes for another 25 years of wedding bliss are sent to Maria and Barry today as they celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary.
Hymn to a Good Wife
A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
   all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
   and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
   and brings back exotic surprises.
She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
   diligent in homemaking.
She's quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn't worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.

Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
"Many women have done wonderful things,
   but you've outclassed them all!"
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
   Festoon her life with praises!
Proverbs 31:10-31
I would say that Barry is a blessed man for marrying a Proverbs 31 woman ... and Maria is equally blessed for marrying a man of God that is a good provider and raises his children in the admonition of the Lord.  Together they have made their house a Christ-centered home.

Parting Glass

I have already started harvesting the ransoms.I'm cutting them and put them in the freezer. Some grind the leaves and mix the with olive oil and sea salt. Imagine May is soon coming to an end. Today is Pentecost Eve. Tomorrow and Monday all shops will be closed. It's holiday for real.
Some how the pansies are called step-mother flowers. They are a tough breed. I bought mine in Mars, and they have been fighting for their lives through frost and snow, and come out victorious.

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans,John Lennon said.

Being a hostess for Miss Apron was pretty much like that.
So many things craving my attention and thoughts.
The carpenters turning upside down four rooms and our garden.
The two Iraqi sisters.
Serina had some allergic problems and sinusitis. So had Gunnar.
Someone managed to hurt and upset my mother severely. She is such a great woman, extrovert and giving, but thin skinned, as is Serina, as am I.
We just have to find a way to deal with it.
The wheels of life are turning on and on and on.
All the things I would have loved to show you, simply could not be done.

Nevertheless we had a "jolly good" time together.
Yesterday we had a parting glass in the upper garden about 10P.M.
I made a bitter grass wreath, which Miss Apron denied to wear.
Gunnar on the other hand took them both in his care.
I wonder what the neighbors thought?
Who cares? I don't.

A nice shampoo wash for Miss Apron. My friend Martje taught me that back in the 70ies, always use shampoo when you wash delicate clothes.(I still have the knitted dress she made me in 1973 because of that. Only used Christmas Eves nowadays.)
My mother has likewise taught me to use vinegar both to bind the colors in the fabric, and for anti bactericide effect.

I let Miss Apron rest the night over on the ironing board, and hope she isn't too crunched when she arrives her next destination.
Who knows where? Mrs. Mac, Gunnar, who delivered her at the post office this morning and me.
I won't tell a word. I know she'll be happy to arrive though. And I am sure she'll have a "jolly good" time where she comes.

Goodbye for now.
I'll have to use the next couple of days to catch up with my other friends in Blogland and my own blog as well.
Perhaps do some weeding in the garden, hopefully read a book and take some sun set tours by the sea.
Meanwhile I salute you with the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Our "King Song" goes on the same tune as "God save the Queen".
I have once visited Scotland and Edinburgh Castle. It was a great event, even without the Tattoo.

FROM PHILIPPINES WITH LOVE

Welcome at last dear apron from the Philippines.
Some
day someone really clever must calculate the mileage of Miss Apron.
We, old hubby and I, have been really busy lately. We have had to supervise three carpenters changing 9 windows and the terrace doors, all with double glazing.I have hardly left the house other than for buying groceries. Imagine my surprise when this package was waiting for me at the local post house.
I was so caught by surprise, I had to stop at the nearest gas station to tank up.
Fast food for fast sisters.. Daijm buns and coffee. We pay 20 dollars for the white steel coffee mug and can refill free on all Statoil stations in Norway. I see to that I get value for my money. Its kind of late in the night and tomorrow is another busy day. Nevertheless I thought I'd grab the opportunity to teach how to magnify your photos on blogger.
1.Click on the "Edit Html" links at the top of the writing screen.
2.After having loaded up the picture of your choice, you just have to double the number of width, length and s (for size)
With my camera the numbers will have to be changed from width 400 to width 800, length 300 to length 600 and /s 400 to /s 800.
3. Remember "Save now" Then return to the Compose board.
Good luck dear sisters. See you tomorrow.
