It's no secret that I have been worried about Jessica and her choice to be in a relationship with Faizel. I have felt many things:
ANGER (because she is so easily influenced by him or any other man she has been involved with. I have felt REJECTED and BETRAYED (as if all of the love, energy and prayers have been so easily discarded because she is not active in her faith.) WORRY (over my grand-daughter not being raised with a spiritual foundation.) I have GRIEVED because it's in essence a loss of how I expected things would be.
So much of these emotions have been directed towards Faizel because it's easier to blame him than my own flesh and blood. In a nutshell, I have had a horrible attitude towards him, sadly very UN Christlike. I've never said anything to him but he knows...
I have been tormented in the depths of my spirit over this. I have anguished over it and yet somehow Dave has been able to turn it over to God while I have hung on to all of the ugliness and anxiety!
But God...
As if a switch has been flipped, the Holy Spirit has overwhelmed me in regards to this subject. I have been convicted over my attitude and yet it's not been difficult to be obedient to His leading. Sometimes when I am called to be obedient it's through gritted teeth but not this time.I have already taken the first step in restoration. I know that Satan will try and pull me back into my former bondage but I also know that this is done and dealt with, no going back, I am going to plead the blood of Jesus...
Through it all I have felt an amazing peace and freedom that can only come from Him. I almost have to wonder if He intends to use my repentance as a possible witness?
One month ago if you had asked me if I could let this go, I would have said impossible... It's just too hard!
But God specializes in the unlikely and the impossible! He knows that this hard thing is something that will make me a better Christian. He also knows that to hang on to this will cripple me; my impact certainly but more importantly, my spirit. There is indeed freedom in surrender....
