letters and the scarf

I ran out of the house this morning... I forgot the scarf...

Today I finally got the time to get my sponsorship letters out for our trip to Austria... so I put the scarf on.

I pray that these letters come back fruitful, but I also pray for prosperity for the businesses in our area as well. And that those who read my letter if they are not Christians, that they read my blog and find Him. And they seek Him for themselves.

"you're really living the life"

My daughter always makes me laugh... and I think today she was laughing at me instead of with me...

She loves the scarf... she wants Mrs. Mac to get her one of her own... I wore it to work. I typically don't wear a coat until it's subarctic, just a scarf... how about that... so today, I looked amazing in my scarf...

Then tonight I had an Alive Leader's meeting. It was FREEZING in the room, but I had my scarf... toasty warm all over. And then I thought "ugh... not pics today" so I grabbed my girlfriend's little munchykins and took pics with them. My daughter's reply "you're really living the life".

I am. You see, life isn't about big things or even things at all. It's about people in our lives who make an impact in a positive way. It's about love. Pure and simple, love.

Only God could have put us all together to pray for each other, to laugh together, to cry together, to support each other, and to love each other, no matter whether we've met in person or not. Only God. We're sewn together with the thread of love that He's given to us in His grace and mercy and faith.

So, I do really live the life. The life I'm intended to live.

Number 11:23-24 23 The LORD answered Moses, "Is the LORD's arm too short? You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you."
24 So Moses went out and told the people what the LORD had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the Tent.

Off and Running .... Greetings From Idaho

Today was the 'sisterhood scarf's' maiden voyage. So, along with Mrs. Mac, it journeyed to 'the center of the universe'. At least that's the town of Wallace, Idaho's tourist trademark ... albeit a name they gave themselves having no way to disprove this fact. Nonetheless, a good lure to get folks to pull off the I-90 for a closer look. Located in the panhandle of north Idaho, we were just a few miles from the Montana border and several wintertime ski areas. This historic town also boasts being the setting for the 1997 Hollywood movie called Dante's Peak. The outing was a perfect crisp fall day with blazing autumn foliage scattered along mountainsides shared with a thick forest of alpine trees. Mr. Mac, son-in-law Ryan, and my grandson Jacob were my escorts. We enjoyed lunch downtown, and I especially favored the nap on the way home.

Stay tuned for the next stop!

Silly Is My Middle Name

As if I don't have enough on my plate called life, now and again my mind comes up with a sheer goofy idea. This Sisterhood Of The Traveling Scarf game is one such episode of my insaneness. Here are the rules. So as not to endanger any of the ladies that play along, I am only allowing those fellow women bloggers that I'm familiar with or a friend of a friend, as some personal information is needed. The scarf may be kept for ten days. Take it with you on your travels and make at least one blog post about your outing showing you and the scarf in a photo. If you don't want to reveal your face, a side or back profile will do; be creative. Leave a comment at this site when you receive the scarf. I will then email you with the next recipient's name and address so we don't have a master list floating around the world with personal information. When it is time to mail the scarf, contact me via email to get the forwarding sister's name and address. Include a short entry on the journal sheet that will be provided and include a post card from your state, city or country. The maximum number of participants will be fifteen. This will ensure that we finish up our travels by spring time ... and make the package light enough to be affordable to pay for postage. Please be sure to email me your name and address if you haven't done so. This list will be kept secure.

recap ... order of play:

  1. When you receive the scarf in the mail, leave a comment at this site and keep the scarf for no longer than ten days.
  2. Make a post on your blog showing you and the scarf on an outing. Be creative and write a short story about your outing ... not just a picture please ;)
  3. When it's time to mail the scarf, please write a short journal entry on the paper provided with the scarf. Include a post card from your state, city or country.
  4. Contact me via email and I'll give you the name and address of the next recipient.
  5. The last recipient will mail the package back to me and I'll write a post about the scarf's journey.
Thanks for playing along. Friendship can be sparked by just a kind word and travel the world around.

My contact address is: sillyoldme@yahoo.com

This should be a great testimony of God's gift of friendship. Enjoy!
UPDATE: 10/27/08
There are Three openings left ... don't be shy about joining the club! Just send me a note.

Humble Beginnings

Our first year's purpose:

This game is loosely based on the movie titled "Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants." Now we all know that 'Hollywood' had much to do with a bit of movie magic to have one pair of pants travel around the world to different friends and fit each of their various sizes as though said pants were custom made for each gal. My silly idea is to buy a nice light weight neck scarf, wear it on an outing, taking a picture wearing it, of course. You can post the picture on your blog with a short story ... but also send it on to the next 'blog sister' in an envelope with a postcard from your area and a short journal entry. I figure, if we passed the scarf around two or three times a month beginning in November, this will allow 10 to 15 participants to play along well into spring. Just imagine the 'shared journey' we can take to far off lands. I already have a few interested participants.
