Emma Garner

Mom Golden & Emma Garner
Quilt Made By Emma Garner Over Forty Years Ago
I'm very new at this blogging thing but I have felt that if I ever did blog that I would blog about people that have made a real difference in my life...ordinary Christians who never made the headlines.  Mrs. Emma Garner was one of those ladies. Years ago, when John and I got married, she gave us this beautiful quilt that she had spent many hours working over.  Most of the pieces came from scraps that the other ladies in the church gave to her from their numerous sewing projects.  I used to able to recognize where some of the pieces used came from.  There was always another quilt on her quilt rack which would be gifted to another married couple.  Mrs. Garner had no favorites.
Another thing that I noticed about Mrs. Garner was her ability to come up with work for any of those families who were out of work.  John and I were hired one year to install installation in her attic.  I am sure that Terry would be able to tell you of times when her Bernie was on the receiving end of one of her jobs.  She was quite a lady and was really missed by all the Christians in the assembly when she passed away over 30 years ago.
About a month ago, a visiting preacher came to our chapel to speak.  In his message he spoke about a woman that he used to know in another assembly.  She was a prayer warrior.  I thought of Mrs. Garner and was really surprised when the preacher said "Emma Garner".

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.  Proverbs 31:10

Dad Golden

I thought that I would use this very post to tell the story of Dad's very first time ever to visit the Gospel meeting.  Terry has graciously given me the pictures of the event.
Dad had told the two preachers he might surprise them and come to one of the meetings.  True to his word he came to the last meeting.
