Thy will be done

I was determined about two issues for this Traveling Sock round.
1. I wouldn't, couldn't spend too much time on the writing .
2. I wouldn't, shouldn't even try to preach. It's simply not my style.
What happened? I've spent the whole day making a single blog post and I've never done this much preaching in my entire life. No wonder nobody bothers to read my writing.
Nevertheless, I've prayed "Thy will be done", and what's coming out for sure wasn't my intention.

A year ago I wrote ten blog posts about The Lord's Prayer.
I had kind of a wakening up. My praying was so much about my wishes and my will. Jesus taught us to search for God's will on earth as in heaven.
I had wrestled with tough topics, like the painful endings of first my father's and then my mother's life.
I still don't know why it had to be this way, but I experienced that Jesus stood by our family's side all of the time.

Job 35: 14 "Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him."

My brother's cancer, Gunnar's and Serina's chronic deceases.
The four of us are still works in progress and we are getting better in spite of all odds. My brother had five percent odds of survival after his Whipple surgery eleven years ago. He's still in his job.
Gunnar is fighting like a lion and is achieving physical wonders this year, that I would have thought impossible only half a year ago. Serina is also step by step, inch by inch retrieving strength and will power.

As my father woke up from brain surgery after two days in coma, we were gathered around his  bed. He smiled and pointed towards the wall between me and my mother. "Oh, there she is, " he said. "Do you mean me or Mom," I asked. "Neither", he answered, "It's her, she who has been there all the time."He pointed at the place where "She" was standing. A chill of awe went through all of us.
He hadn't been alone, not for a minute.

Some years later my Mom stood on the threshold to Heaven. We were given a spare room at the hospital where we could rest while the rest was waking, preparing for the end to come.
My mother has always said, "I'm not strong, but I am a stayer."
She was this time too. Little by little we started feeding her with protein drinks and slowly connected after ten days. She got up and stared out in the gray rain wet backyard. Her face lit up, and smilingly she said, "I've never seen such perfect beauty in my life. I didn't know it existed."
She saw into a world I've only read about, and her face was shining.

His will is for us to get saved.
That we may have the food and clothes we need, that our sins may be forgiven, "like we forgive those who sin against us."That we may be freed from temptations, we're bound to fall, over and over again. And that we must be saved from evil, and from doing evil, I usually add, knowing myself just too well. I am so glad that the power and the glory belongs to him, and not to a king, a president or a prime minister, dictator or any worldly or clergy power.
The Lord is the only one to be worshiped and to be knelt before. For ever and ever.

1 Chor. 13 :
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Dear, dear Felisol, I just wanted to drop by and tell you that I am enjoying all that you are sharing here, particularly today. And, you are not preaching, rather just declaring truth. I pray only His best for you and your family.
Love,
Sandy

dear felisol...this is so beautiful, i feel as if i had been right there with you as you wrote this post...you were so dedicated to and loved your mom and dad so much...if i am not mistaken felisol, sometimes when you were with your dad at the hospital, you were streaming his favourite hymns by tape into his ear and right straight to his heart and it brought him and you such joy.
it was a sad day that he said "so long for now" to you and gunnar and serina and kel...even though it was a glorious day for him, he left an empty space here on earth...our loss, heavens gain.
so amazing that while he was walking through the valley of death, he was being comforted...i wonder if sometimes, even with angels being present if someone doesn't see family that has gone on before.
i remember when my friend's mother was on her death bed that she suddenly looked up and asked, "jesus who are these?"...what she saw felisol was jesus holding baby twins..jesus told her, "these are yours."...my friend was so startled after when her mom told her, "gracie these were the twin babies that died when i was carrying them,"...oh felisol, my friend was so surprised as this was the first time her mom had ever told her that she had miscarried her babies....her mom became a christian one year before she passed away...so maybe your dad saw one of his sisters, eh?

felisol, you are in no way being a preacher...your fingers are just writing what is on your heart and so many times they have helped me,
you write with experience.

i like what you said about that you four are a work in progress.
i have always liked this hymn felisol and that is what you have been saying.

God’s Still Working On Me

He’s still working on me to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,
The Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be, He’s still working on me.

There really ought to be a sign upon the heart,
Don’t judge him/her yet, there’s an unfinished part.
But I’ll be perfect just according to His plan
Fashioned by the Master’s loving hands.

In the mirror of His Word reflections that I see
Make me wonder why He never gave up on me.
He loves me as I am and helps me when I pray
Remember He’s the Potter, I’m the clay.

well i have already filled too much space with all of my chatting here my bestest friend..i will return later on and read this post again..you see it is so full of good things!......love terry

Dear Terry,
There are so many things going on that we cannot yet spot. We see through a glass darkly. We need to know they are here anyway.
I've often thought that the woman my Dad saw was his mother. She died when my father was 14 and my younger uncle 11. My mother told, that my grandfather, who had to work very hard through the days of the depression,at the end of the day took his two youngest sons to visit my grandmother's grave and said, "Here we are Mama."
He was a doer and not that much a preacher. He never let his sons forget that their mother was not vanished, but still a part of their lives.
One by one all her five children and my granddad too followed in her footsteps and found a home in the Pentecost Church. First my aunt, who had followed her mother also when she lived and then the eldest brothers and after ten years my father also found his spiritual home. All the five siblings were faithful followers till the day they died.
Both my father and my mother had an ipod with psalms, songs and hymns attached to their ear as they fought their last battle. Even my uncle, my father's youngest brother got to borrow that.
They always say that hearing last the longest and I thought it would do them good listening to songs about the glory of heaven.

Now I'm praying for Bernie. Praying that his surgery went well. Praying for strength for the both of you. You should tell someone about your medical condition, so you can have a bed to rest on while you are at the hospital. Don't forget to eat and drink. You need what you have left of your physical strength.
Love fel

dear felisol...i have just awoken at ten in the morning from a deep sleep...i guess i needed it, eh?
i have been thinking of your dad and that lady that he saw, and i bet you are right, that it was his mom...the more stories i hear about some death beds, the more i believe that along with the lord, there are dear relatives that come near in the shadow of death...i was thinking after i read this about your dad of another friend .he gad two elderly aunts and ir really don't remember their names so i will call the one that was in the hospital [on her death bed], mary and her sister who was in good health at home, doris....well doris suddenly died of a heart attack and my friend did not want to upset his aunt mary and so he put off telling her about her sister, doris...well believe me felisol this came as a real surprise to my friend..while his aunt mary was just leaving this earth for heaven, almost her last words were, "doris, what are YOU doing here?"
just amazing, eh felisol?
i will be back later because now i have to take mom golden to niagara falls for a special eye doctor..she has developed a sty and a small ulcer in her eye...
take care and thanks for your prayers...bernie is feeling quite well and in fact is bugging me to no end as i try ti write this letter...ha!...and he is the one to ask "has felisol written today?",and now he is bugging me!....we love you felisol...love terry

The amazing thing is that neither my father or mother died right after they had their "visions" which they shared with us. My Dad got four more year on earth and my Mom got 14 months. They had both been on the threshold to heaven's gate. The doctors had warned us, we were waking day and night.
God sent them back to us, more crippled than before, but with a strength and a will to live and to cope with what was to come. Therefor we used the same quote from Paul by their burial from 2 Thim Chapter 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith".
Its even written on their headstone, and it's so true. I so admire what my parents achieved the last years of their lives.
THEY KEPT THE FAITH through so many adversities, never stopping to be an example to the four of us.

Terry said...

dearest felisol...they sure did keep the faith...i have never seen such a grave yard scene felisol, with the lights on the grave stones and the lights shining in the church windows and the refection of the pure white snow...
"wash me and i shall be whiter than the snow"
And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

mom and dad ljung are abiding in heaven with the lord jesus and they have been given shining garments as white as snow.

god bless you dear felisol for all of the work that you have put making these most precious to me posts.
it is lords day tomorrow and i have saved the best till last...i will savour your last post...love terry

So much we don't know, so much we do not see...yet it is there...more real than the temporary we touch every day....sometimes I believe that veil of flesh is parted for a moment and we are allowed, as was your mom and dad, to see beyond...into reality....We must always remember that the battles we fight here..of illness or poverty or despair...are only shadows of battles being fought elsewhere....work being done in the unseen realm....God is always merciful...even if we can not see it with our human eyes...if we can but "see" beyond the veil....His Mercy is Everlasting!

Felisol said...

Amen, Cheryl. His mercy is everlasting.

I have been having such a wonderful time with the Lord as I've been reading your posts...His presence has filled my room...I do wish I could get a true glimpse of what my heart and mind imagines heaven to be like. I have heard of others who have seen glimpses beyond the veil of this world...ah...one day soon - I believe the day is ever so close - when we will all see past that dark glass into His glorious presence.
