Finally...Some Scarf Tales...

At long last...here are some of my scarf adventures!

It has been so much fun having the scarf...and since we have some more days of VERY cold temperatures, it's been nice having the scarf to keep me warm! Madeline was very excited to see the scarf because it has two of her favourite colours in it....pink and purple! The picture above is us last Thursday, ready to head out to the bus.

Friday was kind of a boring day for the scarf, as I was at the hospital with Andy. The doctors don't have any idea what he had, they only know what he didn't have. His heart is fine, his arteries are fine, everything is fine. We know though that it was an attack from Satan, because he is trying to stop Andy from doing things that God wants him to do. But...one thing that has come out of this is that Andy is going to pay a little more attention to his diet, and watch what he eats. He was at the Cardiology clinic on Tuesday for a stress test, and again, everything is normal.

I wanted to do some "sight-seeing" with the scarf on Saturday, but between the cold weather and being so tored after Friday, I just didn't have the energy to go out. So this past Tuesday (when the weather was above 0!) Madeline and I took the scarf out.

We headed over to East City here in Peterborough, which is part of the city, but more like a little village in the city. I love it and would love to live in this part of the city. We drove through this tunnel and I bet you don't know what is above the tunnel...

The Peterborough Lift Lock. At first glance it may not look like much, but it's quite an engineering feat. Built in 1904, it is the world's largest hydraulic lift lock.

Here it is looking at it from the front. There are two big boat chambers...during the summer season, one is at the top and one is at the bottom. When boats come, they go into the chamber and I believe the water level is then adjusted a bit, and then they move up or down so that the boats can continue on their way. I've been over the locks while on the local boat cruise, and it really is quite fun.

Rumour has it there is a ghost or two inside the lift lock, as there were some unfortunate deaths that happened during the building of the lift lock. But I won't be going inside any time soon....

Looking the other way, down the river is where people come to skate in the winter. Though not as long a skating rink as on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, it's still a pretty cool place to come and skate. The last two years it wasn't as cold and not much (if any) skating was done. But this year has been much better for skating and hockey games.

And finally...one last big piece of news that the scarf is able to help me share. Part of the reason I've been so tired (and sick) lately is because we will be having a new addition to our family sometime around August 31!!!! I've been much, much more tired and nauseous than I was when I had Madeline, but that seems to slowly be going away (thank goodness). It was kind of nice timing to have had the scarf now while sharing this news.

I've had fun with the scarf and will be sad to see it go, but I've made so many wonderful friends that in some way the scarf will kind of live forever!

My request has gone in to Mrs. Mac inquiring as to the whereabouts of the next sister to receive the scarf, and I will be mailing it out tomorrow. I wonder where it will be going????

Dear Julie,
I am so happy about Andy not having any heart condition, and not even stress symptoms.
A good promise for the time to come.
Congratulation with the happy circumstances.
Wow. No wonder you were a bit tired and inder the weather.
Hope the nausea will go away real soon. It is so tiresome.
Anyway, how wonderful to be expecting a new life. The greatest wonder of all.

This is all good news, Julie. Especially exciting about having a new little one arriving later this summer. Aaah, just thinking about summer makes for a nice conversation, eh? Your adventure sure started off rocky ... and I'm so glad that Andy is OK health wise. I'm praying that he's not bothered by you know who and that the peace that passes understanding is with him. Madeline will make a great big sister. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

First of all, I am glad that Andy is doing well. Our Pastor did a series this Fall on Spiritual Warfare. he had this catch phrase that I sometimes remind myself of. He shook his finger at the devil and said,
"Not today devil". We even had tee-shirts made up for those of us who were interested.

Secondly, what wonderful news!! In a small way we are so connected with one another and it was wonderful timing to have the scarf when you needed it most!
Connie

PS Wonder where it's headed?

Love the snowy pictures..i grew up near a single lift lock myself so I know exactly what you're talking about. :) Congratulations on the baby news! Those first 3 months can be kinda rough...glad you're starting to feel better and thank the lord for Andy's health. I'm sure little Madeline is very excited!

Dear Julie.
I finally figured out how to put "The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Scarf" on to my links.
It took a fair bit of figuring out but it is about time!
I am glad that Andy doesn't have trouble with his heart.
Bernie has had a cold for almost a month and I have finally convinced him to go to the clinic this morning!
I have to go to Hamilton on Feb 23rd to see the heart specialist and to find out if he will have to put in a pace maker for me and I am a little scared about it.
So happy to hear that you are having another baby.
Now take it from me Julie, mind you show that child a little respect.
Speaking from the experience of being second in the family, myself, I have been at the short end of the stick ALL of my life.
I mean there were so many baby pictures taken of Betty, and yet all I can find in the family archives of poor little Terry is one or two pictures...NOT nice!
I suppose though that in this modern world, the digital camera will solve that problem for your second child!
I just imagine that even little Madeline will snap a few pictures herself of that baby!
Take care of yourself now, eh? my fellow Canadian....Love Terry

All of your snow pictures remind me so much of Ottawa. When we lived there we used to freeze our hands and feet off as we waited for the city buses and it seemed that winter would NEVER end!
Just see how crisp that snow looks, eh? Just not fit enough to make a snowman or even a decent snowBALL to throw at Mrs. Mac!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and yes it's very unusual to have this kinda weather in Feb., usually we are buried like you guys, but this year has been different, cold, but not as much snow. Last year, I didn't think it would ever go away, not just a few inches, but 10+ everytime and that was like every other day.

But I am ready for spring and workin in the gardens, my yard is so brown and dull after it's blanket of snow melted.

Have a great Sunday and hope all is well with the family...prayers for your Sis.
