| Daddy and Two of His Great-Grands Labor Day, 2010 |
Good evening Sisters. I am posting to request prayer for Daddy. He has had a really bad day. I contacted our Hospice nurse and explained his symptoms to her; adding that he does not have a temp, not even a low grade one. She advised this is most likely just another move closer to his home going.
We have opened his comfort kit (a box of medications given to hospice patients and only used as they become sicker) and have started to give him Compazine by mouth for recurrent nausea and Morphine drops for relaxation of the chest muscles in order to try to help him breath more easily. It has been minimally effective.
I fear the really hard part has begun. He is terribly uncomfortable and has a very difficult time breathing. He keeps insisting he isn't in pain, yet he groans and moans regularly. I don't mind telling you this is very hard for me. The memories are all too fresh and I see Terry every time I look at Daddy.
I have called my sisters and they have offered to come and set up with me tonight, but I don't think we've reached that stage yet. I pray this is just a temporary set back and that he will rally and be better, but I also do not want to extend his suffering.
I'm not in a good place emotionally and don't really even know what to ask you to pray for; just that God's will be done and that Daddy can be spared suffering if at all possible. We only want what God wants for Daddy and for ourselves.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other
so that you may be healed.
The earnest prayer of a righteous person
has great power and produces wonderful results.
James 5: 16 (NLT)
O God, listen to my cry!
Hear my prayer!
From the ends of the earth,
I cry to you for help
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety,
for you are my safe refuge,
a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
Let me live forever in your sanctuary,
safe beneath the shelter of your wings!
Psalm 61: 1-4 (NLT)
