several years ago when i was teaching a sunday school class of three and four year old boys and girls, i learned something that i had never seen before.
mrs. mac has encouraged us to highlight our favourite verses and this verse is one that i have chosen.
Matthew 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
now here is why i love this verse....it was one christmas that i had my class and so i read them the "christmas story"...as i read down the chapter and came to matthew 1:23, one of the little girls suddenly exclaimed...[from the words "shall call his name emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD with us."]...."oh terry, oh!" she said with a surprised voice,"JESUS is GOD, and GOD is JESUS!"
in her simple child like faith tiny three year old maryanne saw the truth of the trinity right there and then!
now of course i had always knew that god, jesus and the holy spirit are ONE person but never had i seen it this way before...at his birth the baby jesus surely was GOD!
i treasure that day when the real truth of this flooded my heart!
i remember it all of the time.

so amazing that this almost the same verse is in the old testament;
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
what a god is ours and what a god we have the great privilege to serve!
god bless you all sweet sisters of mine!...love terry
ps...by the time the bible has made its visit to each sister, it will indeed look like a rainbow, with all the little coloured tags it will have and of all the highlighted scriptures!
good thinking mrs. mac!

our god whose name is wonderful had their guardian angels protecting then all the way..
what an awesome god!....love terry
What a sweet story. Isaiah 9:6 is one of my favorite verses. John 1:1 is another one ~ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Christmas is all about God coming in the flesh because he loves us so much.
Thank you for this delightful story. Oh to always have that childlike wonder and faith.
Have a lovely weekend and a beautiful Christmas.

Dear Terry,
Such a beautiful explanation of enigma; true God and true human.
Psalm 8:3 "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou founded strength,"
This is partly why I've always found Sunday School and also the teachers there so important.
Building this true foundation for all future, that nothing can destroy.
In return you got a revelation that you'll never forget. Neither will we.
Felisol
This is so sweet and beautiful.
These are some favorite verses
too. Life changing revelation
from the Spirit of the Living
God! May we all have that child
like innocence.
Blessings,
Sandy
This is why we love teaching Sunday School...these little ones sometimes teach us!
It just always amazes and blesses me...the purity of the little ones...they see plainly what adults have trouble seeing even when they look hard!
Your blog friendship has been such a blessing to me...and I enjoyed reading your story again. You have a deep love for Jesus that shines through your words.
SOme of your favorite verses are my favorites too.
Love
