SCARF SISTER REUNION
After reading the posts on having a reunion, and talking to Deb last night (she knows I don't like to talk on the phone!) the prospect of a Scarf Sister reunion sounds like a lot of fun...and a lot of work to coordinate! Good thing Mrs. Mac is so good at the sort of thing. ;)
As I told Deb, at first the sound of reunion in Michigan sounded perfect...till I realized, I've seen Michigan, for 62 years! I wouldn't mind one bit venturing to another location at all! I'm up for anything, so what Deb and I thought might be interesting is for everyone to submit 3 or 4 or 5 places that sound good to you. Hopefully, by process of elimination we could all agree on the one place that would be pleasing to all. I also think that early Fall might be a nice time, but I understand the logistics of those with children and jobs. I have neither...well I do have children, but not young children (sorry girls!).
So, having said all that, here's my picks in no particular order: (Not including but not excluding Greece).
1. Gatinburg TN.
2. Chicago
3. NYC (I realllly want to see the statue of liberty!)
4. Niagara Falls, Ont.
5. San Antonio, TX.
ps
Lord willing, I'll be there, anywhere-including Michigan!

My five places are similar: (okay, so I've suggested more than five...get over it!)

NYC (we could go see a Broadway play!---and the museums!!!)

Gatlinburg, TN (beautiful mountains, antique shops, crafts)

St. Augustine, FL (very artsy community - restaurants out on the ocean - etc.)

Flagstaff, AZ (Grand Canyon!)or Sedona, AZ (Red Rocks!)

Seattle, WA (Lots of stuff to do there!...one of my cousins lives there and I could get insider info. on great places to go.)

Sanibel Island, FL - one of the top ten shelling beaches IN THE WORLD!

Savannah, GA...lots of history and Paula Deen's restaurant!

NYC is very expensive ($10bucks for a MacDonald's hamburger .. and dangerous for women without husbands to protect us

Anywhere in Michigan .. my old home state

My current home town .. Coeur d'Alene,Idaho ... just the name is lovely .. the sights are great .. and there are so many places to see with lake views .. close proximity to British Columbia .. Seattle

I could go anytime but garden harvest time (mid to late summer) .. fall is fine too (preference) .. spring is doable before planting time ..

winter is fine if it's somewhere nice and warm.

Michigan is closer to a majority of the sisters.

Maybe I should call myself a community organizer and run for President of the USA ;)

Brillo Man said that we should go to Coeur d'Alene - he's been there (I didn't know that.) He says it's absolutely beautiful there. He also said that "it's all country, there's no theatres or wild roller coasters!" Doesn't matter to me --I'm all for just sitting by the lake and talking the afternoon away! But Cathy...don't you want to go somewhere else since you live there?

Deb .. as long as I get 'away' (even five miles) from my family. We have great (reasonably priced) spas, even a little hiking trail that Pat could manage (she mentioned no mountain climbing ;) We have very little traffic ... I almost couldn't stomach traffic after living here. We should have each sister (or a few at least) put together a blog with links to ONE travel destination .. then take a vote.

My choices would be:

Somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,

The Outer Banks....many many lovely places to eat, visit, relax, walk along the beaches....I absolutely love the Outer Banks!!

So far, I want to go to each destination except Arizona. Sorry Deb. I also agree about NYC, as much as I'd love to go, it's not a destination for women alone...unless we each pack heat!
I vote for fall, it's beautiful anywhere.
Coeur d'Alene sounds perfect to me. Or Greece.

While we all would love to soak in Mrs. Mac's claw foot tub, I was thinking that wherever it is we go we would not be descending upon any sister's home but rather get a hotel or suite of rooms where we would be able to sleep, eat and be merry!

Wow,
This sounds exciting.
I can't even guarantee I'll be able to come, due to my illness.(I'd have to order the ticket with cancellation insurance.)
As much as "Gone with the Wind" has been a favorite novel since I was fourteen, I'd cast my vote in for the North.
Just because it's so much easier for me to get there.
NYC, Chicago, even Seattle will be fairly easy too reach.
Montana is kind of a dream, since my grandfather spent 18 years there. A late aunt of mine always would say she could not be away from the Rockey Mountains.
So far it's mostly dreams from my point of view.

Name the place and time and, God willing, THIS sister will be there with bells on!!!! I love, love, LOVE this idea!!!! I am so unattached and can do it pretty much anytime I decide to.

Although I would love to visit NYC, I agree that it probably isn't the safest location and most certainly not the most economical. I love the mountains, the ocean or just green grass growing on the plains!

First off let me say that somewhere centrally located might be a good choice for travel purposes...
Everyone would Have to travel plus everyone would Get to travel, Plus..not too very far for most.
Now...
1.TN mountains would be very nice in the fall and gets my number 1 vote. Knoxville most likely for flying and mountain purposes.
2.San Antonio is gorgeous and not too hot in the fall. Lots to see.
3 NYC is very expensive but fun...still very expensive.
4 Big city in the center of the country..easy to fly into..plenty to do while there. :) Lots to choose from that would work.

Just spot checked flights to a variety of cities from ATL and everything runs around $200, NYC, San Antonio, Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City, except Boise which ruins over $400.

BTW checked a few more and it looks like flights to places like Orlando and NYC are very cheap from lots of places...hmmmm

Anywhere we go, I'm pretty much in. :) We could do Orlando...I can see the blog now..."Scarf Sisters do Disney!"
